Last Minute Christmas Gifts

Standard

So you need some more ideas? OK, here we go:

How adorable are these gift tags made from Cardstock scraps???

Note the card on the left: I accordion-folded the cardstock so the tag can STAND!

Using the ‘inside’ sentiment from MAMBI to make just a tag instead of a card.
Love rub-ons! (Especially since I am sewing-challenged!)

I cut a small piece of blush-coloured velum as added interest to the the bow on the ornament. I think it makes a huge difference; and I love it!

I had SO much fun making these tags!

Last Minute Christmas Gifts – Cheap!

Standard

Christmas is almost here and you’re saying, “What, it’s on the 25th this year? Why that’s in 2 days!”

Well, even if you knew about it and you’re all set but maybe looking for some fun holiday crafts, here’s a suggestion:

A cross pendant!

I used:

square bezel
mosaic tile sheet
Martha Stewart White Gold microbeads
Recollections Sparkle embossing powder
ETI Jewelry Clay
ETI resin

Instructions:

I mixed the amount of clay I wanted as per ETI instructions and spread it on the bezel ( not too thin) but not right to the edges because once I push the tiles into the clay it will spread out and I don’t want lots of clay oozing up and out and every which way.
Sprinkle some Sparkle on top and push into clay. I gave a quick heat zap to iit.
Place tiles on top and push into clay.
Wipe off tiles and metal surfaces with a baby wipe so clay doesn’t dry where it’s not supposed to.
Let clay dry and set.

I then gently poured RESIN into the cross between the tiles and brushed resin onto the exposed clay surrounding the ‘cross’. After 10 minutes (it allows the resin to start to gel and harden) I poured micro beads into the crevices.

Once it dried, I attached a pretty ribbon. Make this into a pendant or tree ornament!

How to make quick Ornaments -Festive Friday Blog Hop

Standard

I think these ornaments are beautiful and they are SO easy to do that I really wanted to share them with you in lieu of a Christmas card. I hope that’s okay because it’s what I got! 🙂

I love, love, LOVE this red glitter ball! The ruby-red glitter looks OH so luscious to me! You will need plain plastic ornaments (available at Michaels), some glitter, Glitter-It glue, and stickers.

The key to this whole project is the glue. It looks like water and it does an amazing job of evenly coating a surface. Always follow the directions on the packaging because sometimes it is suggested you thoroughly clean your object with vinegar and water and dry it before using the glue.

EASY STEPS:

  1. take off ornament cap and pour a little Glitter-it Glue by Beacon Adhesives, into the ball. You won’t need too much to coat the inside.
  2. turn the ball around and move the glue up and down the sides to fully coat it.
  3. pour the excess glue out onto a paper plate and as you are pouring it out, swirl it around the top of the ball. Make sure all the excess it poured out.
  4. Get Martha Stewart Red sparkle glitter and pour it into the ball. Move it around to evenly coat it, and then dump out the excess glitter.  Put the cap back on the ornament
  5. Decorate with pretty crystal stickers or other embellishments of your choice.
  6. Attach a pretty ribbon
  7. Say ‘Ho Ho Ho’ and you are done!

Big, White and fluffy Ornament

Like the red ornament, remove the cap and set aside.

Now, you have TWO options:  #1 – coat the interior as in the red ball but use white sparkle glitter, or #2 – just pour in ‘snow’ or even Flower Soft and it can be shaken around for amusement!

I actually did BOTH for this ball. I used these adorable Christmas light stickers to decorate it and then attached a ribbon.

SEE? Easy and so pretty!

Thank you for hopping by and see you in August for our next Festive Friday Blog Hop!

Using scraps is fun and a welcomed challenge.  Here’s what I did …

Red cardstock – 11 1/2 by 5 – fold in half
Candystripe cardstock – 4 1/2 by 4 3/4
adhere candystripe to red base
cut out a sentiment from scrapbook paper and place it like you would a ribbon along the bottom portion of the card.
Cut out various shapes and objects from your Christmas-themed paper.  I chose an oval lights shape and then I cut out a red ornament.  Adhere the shapes with pop dots.

For the ornament ribbon, I took a red ribbon and cut a 5 inch strip in 2 because it was too wide.  I glued the ribbon to the underside of the ornament top.

3 green 15″ pieces of wool were wrapped around the front of the card and then I knotted it off to the side.  I took the cute candystripe button brad and stuck it through the knot so it won’t protrude to the inside of the card.

Final touches: crystal, bronze and gold Stickles dotted around the card and used to write ‘noel’.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your hopping!

This is my first post for the Festive Friday Blog Hop. I don’t have too many Christmas cards to send so this is a wonderful way for me to get many done and not have to scramble at the last minute.

I wanted to have some fun with my first entry with a very non-traditional card…because that’s the way I roll!

I fell in love with this Fiskars paper (Heidi Grace houses) and wanted to use it in a few cards this week. It has a lovely foiled finish and the houses are so cute.  The papers were even more lovely because I only paid ten cents a page for them at Winners

I mounted the house cardstock on top of the green dot cardstock (My Mind’s Eye) and then attached them by pop dots to a third piece of beautiful Recollections scrapbook paper.

I stole the cute little reindeer from a Christmas kit (that I bought on clearance from Michaels), and the little ‘Christmas tree’ is a leaf made with one of my 1001 Fiskars punches. — see? a little leaf looks like a tree sometimes!

And now meet ElfSparkle!

Do you see the layers and gap where I cut out a ‘track’ for my slide? The key thing to do is to make the opening wide enough that the slider glides easily, but not so big that the slider won’t stay in the track.

The card is very sturdy and is great as a ‘table-top’ card.

I added Flock to emphasize fur and snow.

Notice Rudolph and his present are at the top of the ‘slide’

Notice Rudolph and his present are at the bottom of the ‘slide’
Kids have a lot of fun sliding the image back and forth.

Side Pocket is perfect for placing a note, money, Gift Card, etc.

This is a card of many parts. I love how differently it looks depending on which flaps are open.

A full tutorial on how I made this card will be available this week on my blog.  If you become a Follower and sign up for my e-mails, you will be notified when it has been posted.
I will show how to make the penny slider and how I deconstructed an ‘Always’ sample holder to make this card.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the Hop!

‘Art Deco’ ATC and Tutorial for LisaLizaLou

Standard

One of my ‘inspirational’ drawings — I may use it in something else

This month’s theme is ‘Art Deco’ and I drew I don’t know how many different images, but finally chose this Christmas tree.

Art Deco is about geometry, straight lines, height in images and words, etc.
I decided to do a geometric tree and ONLY DRAW ONE HALF of the tree so I would be POSITIVE my image was symmetrical.  i.e. I copied my ‘half of tree’, flipped it and then moved it right beside the other half to form ONE perfectly symmetrical tree.
I don’t know about you, but I can be quite challenged when trying to draw anything symmetrical.

So I created the tree, including the ornaments and the words, using Snaggit Editor which allows you to play with vectors and create any shapes you desire. I then printed it on card stock. The tree is coloured in with Bienfang watercolour brushes.

While the paint was still wet I sprinkled with UTEE and embossed the entire image. But not just once: 3 times.

TIPi.e. While the UTEE was still hot I quickly sprinkled more UTEE on, and repeated this.  You wind up with a nice, thick glossy coat.

I chose the red and gold square of felt embossed paper to cover my base card.

QUICKIE TIP  – Don’t feel like schlepping out a sewing machine to stitch borders: Use RUB-ONS! I have Rub-Ons that look like stitching and I think it looks great and it adhered beautifully to the paper.

I adhered the gold & red paper with my Scotch Advanced Tape Glider (because I try to minimize the amount of ‘wet’ glue I use on projects like this.)

To make sure the patterned paper and ‘stitching’ was secure, I painted a thin coat of Martha Stewart’s decoupage glue and sealer over the entire piece and then, while still wet, attached my tree to the red and gold paper.  I had to hold it in place for a little while because the embossing made it rather stiff.
Once dry, I added the red rose at the top using my hot glue gun.

I hope whoever receives my card like it!

Thank you for stopping by!
